Biography

Ema is an emerging self-taught Slovak artist who goes by the alias, Emsky. As a multidisciplinary artist, she traverses through worlds of drawing, painting, photographing, digital editing, foraging for materials, and looking into installations.
Taking on projects between London and Barcelona. Her paintings often include three elaborate styles in which she plays with surrealism, contemporary art, and an inkling of renaissance art. Ema started experimenting with art materials at the age of five. The process of failures and constant thirst for knowledge guides her through every project.
Working in studio spaces across Slovakia, London, LA, and Barcelona. She has worked under many pseudonyms creating contrastive collectives throughout the years; until recently doing her first personal body of art pieces based on scientific interests and specific childhood memories.
Taking inspiration from the powers of nature, her belief arrives from respecting what enables us to breathe and staying curious in all the questions humans struggle to accurately answer. Motivated by astronomy, sustainability, philosophy, and technology. A discipline of deep thoughts engraved into authentic art pieces, the core values of emskyART.
In 2018, her series on "Dry Poetry" was chosen to be exhibited at the National Poetry Library in London. This was also the turning point at which the pressed plant technique often seen in her work began to unfold.
Between April - June 2020; Emsky participated in Art&Co online art auction being part of 46 international artists who offered original paintings at a reduced price in means to raise funds for seven major charities. Addressing Covid-19 issues of disease; death, depression, domestic violence, and disproportionality for ethnic minorities.
